Ryan Dahl, creator of Node.js, has released an open-source implementation of Cloudflare's Durable Objects, enabling developers to run the same stateful serverless pattern on their own infrastructure. The new tool replicates Durable Objects' ability to maintain persistent state across requests, previously exclusive to Cloudflare's platform. This liberation allows self-hosting, offering greater control and flexibility for applications requiring coordinated state management without vendor lock-in.
